Physical Education Policy 2018 2019

Physical Education and Sports Premium 2018 2019

At Holmwood School we teach PE to all children, whatever their ability. PE forms part of the school curriculum policy to provide a broad and balanced education to all our children. Through our PE teaching we provide learning opportunities that enable all pupils to make progress.  This is achieved by setting suitable learning challenges and responding to each child’s differentiated needs. Assessment against The Learning Challenge Curriculum allows us to consider each child’s attainment and progress against expected levels.

At Key Stage 1 we teach dance, games and gymnastics.

In Key Stage 2 we broaden our PE curriculum to include Dance activities, Invasion games, Net and Wall games, Striking and Fielding games, Outdoor and adventurous activities, Gymnastics, Athletics, Swimming and Water safety. (1) Beginners (non-swimmers and developing swimmers. (2) Developing and competent swimmers.  Congratulations to all our swimmers this year who achieved the Governmental target of 25 metres.

For the first time, following on from the Paralympics, HolmwoodSchool is introducing a number of parasports including Goal ball, Curling and Boccia.

The pupils premium funding has allowed Holmwood School to learner from sporting experts and we can implement what we witness to provide better teaching in physical education lessons.
