Year 5 – Mrs Callaghan’s Class

Mrs Callaghan’s class

Teaching Assistants; Mrs Blyth, Miss Southall, Miss Easby, Miss Robinson

We are so excited to start the Autumn term, there are lots of exciting topics and activities planned. Our Year 5 pupils already have very high expectations and we are sure these standards will continue throughout the year. We have great classroom ethics which will help the children to settle into routines. This will also support their development socially and emotionally.

Our learning challenge is to research ‘Which came first the chicken or the egg ’ and ‘The Secrets of the Rainforest’.

The children will understand how important the life cycle is and how our DNA is constructed. We will also discover how important it is to stay healthy and I am sure we will have fun listening to our hearts beating.

In science the children will be learning about life cycles and changes. The children will carry out practical experiments and have lots of fun, particularly when we do the hair sensation experiment.

We are looking forward to meeting the parents and carers on parents evening. We are sure you will support the children with their homework and communication book, it will be extremely beneficial.

Mrs Callaghan is looking forward to another outstanding Harvest performance and Dalby care home in Coulby Newham are also looking forward to the choir entertaining the residents.
